Dickens Heath School offers a wide range of extra-curricular sporting competitions and festivals.  We seek to provide children with the opportunity to compete against other schools in the local area. This means that many of the children will be given the opportunity to compete in inter-school competitions throughout the year. We feel that this experience is beneficial to all children and will give them a true representation of how it feels to participate in a competitive sport.

To ensure there are opportunities for all children at school, no matter their ability, we take part in inclusive sports festivals and offer all year 5 and 6 children the opportunity to take part in at least one festival.

The children have benefited from increased coaching opportunity during the school day for the chosen festival coming up. Before choosing a team to compete we have allowed for opportunities for G&T children to be identified as well as showcase their skills in competition. We have already competed in new events, for example the Biathlon festival. Due to investment of time, we have succeeded in finishing 1st in the Inclusive Football, finished joint 1^st in the Year 4 tennis festival, won our regional Chance to Shine and KWIK cricket tournaments, level 3 Inclusive Rowing winners and many more highlights. Previously the school has enjoyed success with its football team reaching a national final, winning the Solihull league cup and is an aspiration for the current team.

Competitions inside school

Dickens Heath children enjoy a variety of sports throughout the year and intra competitions allow them to demonstrate their skills against their peers. During the year the children take part in a variety of competitions against each other, but we also organise a whole school Intra competition in these three sports:
