Transition and Induction

A carefully planned transition and induction plan is put together for each individual pupil. This will include a tour of The Willows provision and a meeting between parents, current school setting, staff in The Willows and the SISS ASD team.


The induction plan includes a staggered timetable of time spent in school to gradually progress’, along with the focus of the sessions increasing in engagement expectations with teaching and learning and support for personal development both in The Willows and mainstream classrooms.


At the end of the eight week induction process a review meeting is held to assess whether placement in The Willows is appropriate against the ARP entry assessment criteria, using evidence of success and challenges with use of a range of autism strategies.
