Dickens Heath Community Primary School

Enabling every child to be the best version of themselves

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

Dickens Heath Community Primary School complies with the Code of Practice (2014), in which the Department for Education outlines the responsibilities of the Local Education Authority and the school for children with special educational needs.

We are proud to be an inclusive community school, striving to help children to make strong progress in their spiritual, moral, social, emotional and academic development. In order to do this, we place great value on building positive relationships with all members of our school community. We work closely with parents, carers and professionals to ensure that every child, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), is supported to reach their full potential. We recognise that parents/carers have a unique understanding of their child's needs . By working in partnership we can share key information and ensure that each child is truly at the heart of everything we do.

We have a dedicated team of staff who provide additional support for children and families with SEND. These staff include:

  • Mrs Miller - Inclusion Leader/Deputy Head
  • Mrs Carabine - SENDCo
  • Miss Chambers-SENDco for Additional Resource Provision
  • Mrs Bagchi - Advanced Teaching Assistant - Dyslexia Specialist with cognition and learning
  • Mrs Osborne - Advanced Teaching Assistant - Early literacy and language
  • Mrs Perks - Advanced Teaching Assistant - Early years lead for SEND
  • Ms Coombes- Pastoral support practitioner
