As a school, we have been reviewing the content of our curriculum to ensure that there is a much greater emphasis on the specific knowledge that we want children to learn within each unit of work.
As well as continuing to ensure children enjoy the diverse range of trips, visitors and experiences we offer to enhance our curriculum and hook children into their learning, our new knowledge organisers for each unit will specify the key content and vocabulary that all children will learn.
These knowledge organisers will be shared with pupils, parents and carers – with the aim that everyone knows exactly what is being taught, and what the children need to learn. Attached to this letter is the knowledge organiser for history for your child’s year group this term; this includes dates, key people and places, vocabulary and other contextual or technical information.
Please use these Knowledge Organisers at home to talk to your child about what they are learning about in school and discuss the vocabulary linked to this topic. It may also support your child in homework linked to their topic work.
